Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de Leon has been accredited with ascribing one of Florida’s most conversational landmarks: the fountain of youth, a legendary spring that is said to restore the youth to anyone who drinks from it. It was during his travels in Florida during 1513 that he sought its existence, but his name was not actually ascribed to its legend in Florida until after his death.
